SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING
SkinPen is the ideal treatment for someone who has looked in the mirror and would like to turn the clock back - a realisation that it might take more than an expensive moisturiser to bring back the youthful plumpness and luminosity their skin once had. For someone merely looking to plump and add luminosity to their skin, it could be used as a one-off treatment; SkinPen could most definitely be an advanced specialist treatment.
But for those skins that have more serious anti-ageing concerns, a course of 3-6 treatments would be recommended.
The device uses 14 state of the art smooth Japanese needles in the cartridge tip to boost collagen production and therefore reduce fine lines. The needles offer super precision sharpness to prevent tearing, often caused by blunt or hooked needles and at-home derma rollers. All the needles are the same length, and the needle depth can be adjusted in the cartridge head from 0.25 mm up to 2.5 mm.

SkinPen organically stimulates the skin’s natural ability to repair itself. As we age the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates. This deterioration leads to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, and uneven skin texture. SkinPen comfortably creates thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process. This process results in the formation and remodeling of Collagen, which supports the underlying tissue.
The result is more youthful smoother and tighter looking skin, softening lines, wrinkles scar tissue and meslama.
Those with a fear of needles should not discard this technique straight away as, depending on the device used, the microneedle length can vary from 0.5 to 2.5 mm, which is incredibly tiny compared to a traditional needle.
The number of treatments depends on the skin condition, but typically you are looking at a minimum of 3 treatments, with 4-6-week intervals with maintenance treatments every 6-12 months at a clinic.
There are three phases to the wound-repair process:
Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.
Best of all, SkinPen works. Ninety percent of subjects in the clinical trial would recommend the procedure to family and friends.

Will the hair grow back thicker? This is a myth as it is physiologically impossible. As it is being cut across the surface, it can sometimes feel different when regrowing but will remain the same thickness as before.
-
How often can this treatment be done?Dermaplaning can be done every 3-4 weeks to prevent build-up of dead skin cells
-
Does it hurt?It is a pain-free treatment and is known to be relaxing. The edge of the scalpel is used at a 45 degree angle which prevents scraping of the skin.
-
Who is it suitable for?Everyone can benefit from Dermaplaning - unless you have certain skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. It is particularly great for those suffering with dry, dull skin, fine lines and rough skin texture.
